Developing Musicianship through Improvisation offers an approach to learning music that is similar to the process for learning language. Just as it is possible for everyone to learn a language and engage in meaningful conversation, it is also possible for everyone to engage in meaningful musical improvisation. In this application, you will experience media-enriched activities that help you learn to improvise.
This application was developed using content from Books 1 and 2 of Developing Musicianship through Improvisation, a series by Dr. Christopher Azzara and Dr. Richard Grunow, professors at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
Learn to improvise with the following selections:
When the Saints Go Marching In
Joshua
Later versions will be updated to include additional songs.
